Exhibit E-Reclamation Plon
Gravel Stockpile and Processing Facility
The existing gravel stockpile and processing facilities make up approximately 21 acres of
disturbance. At closure, the remaining gravel stockpiles will be sold or transported off site. The
gravel processing facility consists of screens, crushers, conveyors, truck scale, and a scale house.
These facilities will be dismantled and transported off-site to other operations owned by Albert
Frei & Sons, Inc. or sold. The site will be backfilled and graded, sloping up from west to east at a
starting elevation of 5,000-feet above mean sea level (AMSL) at the South Platte River to a
maximum elevation of 5,016-feet AMSL on the east side equal to Brighton Road. The graded
area will then be topsoiled, seeded and mulched consistent with the overall revegetation plan, as
described later in this exhibit.
Equipment Storage Yard
The 1.8-acre equipment storage yard will be cleared of al] equipment and related debris. The area
will be ripped, graded, topsoiled, seeded and mulched consistent with the overall revegetation
plan, as described later in this exhibit.
Expansion Area North
Mining Area
Expansion Area North was partially mined prior to the applicant acquiring the property. It
appears to have been mined pre-1973 and was never permitted. No reclamation activities were
conducted and much of the site remains disturbed. Vegetative cover is minimal and very little
topsoil has been saved and stockpiled. Existing available topsoil for reclamation is minimal and
unprotected slopes have minor erosion.
The entire 21=acre Expansion Area North will be re-mined, removing approximately 35,000 cubic
yards of overburden and 500,000 cubic yards of gravel, to a pit floor elevation of approximately
total depth of mine 4,992-feet AMSL. Mining in Expansion Area North will be completed within
three years.
Backfilling and reclamation activities will require an additional three to five years afrer mining is
completed. For Reclamation Plau A, Expansion Area North will be backfilled with a minimum of
]35,000 cubic yards of shale and overburden. This backfill material will be made up of 35,000
cubic yards from an existing on-site waste pile and 100,000 cubic yards from the deepening of the
WSF. The mined out Expansion Area North will be filled to a minimum elevation of 4,996-feet
AMSL, at least two feet above the average ground water elevation of 4,994-feet AMSL as shown
on Exhibit F-1. All pit walls will be sloped to a maximum of 3H:1 V. Overall, the site will slope
gently from east to west towards the South Platte River.
Al] grading, topsoiling, seeding and mulching will be consisted with the overall revegetation plan,
as described later in this exhibit.
1898-Frei 1 l2 Exhibits_(4.2Q05).doc E-3
