Exhi6i! E -Reclamation Plan
Expansion Area South
Mining Area
Expansion Area South will be mined afrer the Expansion Area North is mined out, depending on
market conditions and the quality of the material (Exhibit F-1). The Expansion Area South will
be mined and reclaimed using the same methods described for Expansion Area North. Before any
disturbance occurs within the Expansion Area South, this permit will be modified by a Technical
Revision to include the information regarding the bonding for this area.
RECLAMATION PLAN B
This section will describe planned reclamation activities for Reclamation Plan B. Under this
plan, reclamation activities at the existing Worthing Pit and the Expansion Area North will be
concurrent and consistent with the development of a Water Storage Facility (WSF) and a post
mining land use of mixed residential and recreational.
Worthing Pit
Pit Lakes -Water Storage Facility
If the geologic and economic conditions are suitable, Pit Lakes 1 and 2 at the Worthing Pit will be
combined to create a WSF, enclosed by a liner, and deepened to increase capacity. This liner will
isolate the WSF from the surrownding groundwater. The construction of the WSF could produce
as much as 1.5 million yards of gravel, inert shale and clay. This material may be used as backfill
for the plant site, tailings area, and Expansion Area North to increase the ground elevation to that
of Brighton Road sloping gently east to west towards the South Platte River, as shown in Exhibit
F-2, Reclamation Plan B. The final maximum depth of the WSF is dependent on water
availability and ongoing negotiations; therefore, the exact amount of material to be generated is
unknown.
No final highwalls will remain, as the embankments of the WSF will be graded to blend with the
surrounding topography. All permanent WSF embankments will be graded to a maximum 3H:1 V
slope with a top elevation to blend with surrounding topography. Existing Pit Lake 3 at the
Worthing Pit has been reclaimed as a pond and is currently used for fishing. Pit Lake 3 wil] not be
disturbed under this plan.
The existing haul road along the west embankment of Pit Lake 1 will remain as an access road for
the water storage reservoir. Light-duty roads will be constructed around the perimeter of the WSF
for inspection and maintenance access.
Expansion Area North
Mining Area
The entire 2]-acre Expansion Area North will be re-mined, removing approximately 35,000 cubic
yards of overburden and 500,000 cubic yards of gravel, to a pit floor elevation of approximately
total mine depth 4,992-feet AMSL, the same operation as in Reclamation Plan A. Mining in
Expansion Area North will be completed within three years.
1898-Frei 112 Exhibits_(4.20.05).doc E-Q
