Beavis and Mary K. Beavis:
Our records indicate that you own the Marshall Bertrand Millsite located partially within
the Mined Land Reclamation Permit area for the Sunnyside Mine in San Juan County,
Colorado. If that is correct, the following information and request is properly directed to
you.
Sunnyside Gold Corporation (SGC) purchased the Sunnyside Mine in 1985 through the
bankn~;~t::v proceedings of Standard Metals Corporation. In transferring the Mined
Land Reclamation Permit, the permit boundary and reclamation plan used by Standard
Metals was maintained. This permit boundary includes approximately'/ acre of the
Marshal Bertrand Millsite. Inclusion of the Marshal Bertrand Millsite into the permit area
was presumably done because a corner of the American Tunnel waste dump was on the
property.
Standard Metals's reclamation plan required them to grade the dump material to a stable
slope, cap the mine waste with subsoil and plant vegetation. SGC, when implementing
reclamation in this area, did much more_ SGC removed the mine waste material and
hauled it to its Tailings Pond for disposal before planting the area. Enclosed are recent
pictures of the area on the Marshal Bertrand. Vegetation has been established and SGC
believes the area qualifies for removal from SGC's permit area and would like to request
an inspection by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division (Division) to
accomplish this. After receipt of an application for release, the Division will notify the
