Provide as rncrch detail as <br />possrb/e. <br />Bear - A four inch diameter pipe extended from the surface well to the sump so <br />water could be pumped into the mine. A four inch diameter line distributed <br />water from the sump to the mining section. A four inch diameter pipe was <br />installed from the 3rd west seal to the sump. A four inch diameter line was <br />installed from the surface well to the NPDES discharge point at the river. <br />By changing valves located at the surface well and the underground sump, water <br />could be distributed in a number of directions as follows: <br />1. Pump from surface well to underground sump. <br />2. Pump from underground sump to mining sections and dust control sprays. <br />3. Pump from underground sump to NPDES discharge point. <br />4. Gravity flow from 3rd west seal to sump. <br />5. Gravity flow from 3rd west seal to NPDES discharge point. <br />Bear does not believe any water flowed to down gradient locations in the mine <br />beyond any collection point. <br />6. DMG -The December 19, 19971etter from Dan Bear (response number 29), <br />references a meeting with b1r. Phi! Schmidt. The fast sentence of response <br />rlurrrber 29 in the above referenced letter states ''At the time Bear did not know <br />N1CC was planrlirrg to convert the area above the Bear 1Vo. 3 R?ine into a huge <br />sump': You have since indicated that dt;rirlg some meeting, lV1r. Schmidt <br />informed ycu that fault inflow ~:~ater would he pumped to the NW panels above <br />the Bear Mine. <br />Please describe, in detail, any and all meetings w;th hrCC persatnei reyardulg <br />mine water storage and water inflows, including dates of meetings and your <br />recollection of arty information exchanged. <br />Bear -The comment regarding Bear's lack of knowledge regarding MCC's plan <br />to convert the area above the Bear No. 3 Mine into a huge sump was applicable <br />to the Bear/MCC meeting in 1994 after the seepage was noticed in the 3`° west <br />mains. <br />Meeting 1: Attendees: BCC -Dan Bear; MCC -Scott Jones and Dan Meadors. <br />Time Frame: Mid to third quarter 1994. <br />Dan Bear asked for a meeting to determine the source of water <br />seeping into the 3`d west mains.
