Requirement: Another overflow berm will be constructed along the south end of [he large
drainage channel that extends along the west side of the site. This berm shall be an
extension of the berm on the east side of the drainage that runs along the west side of
Phase 2. The berm shall connect with the overflow protection berm along [he river.
(See Page 24)
Requirement: These berms shall remain in place throughout the duration of the operation
and until [he sealed area is filled with water so as to reduce groundwater barrier wall
damage as a result of river overflows causing headward erosion into the pit wall. Once the
sealed portion of [he pit is filled with water these berms should no longer be necessary.
(No discussion associated with this requirement)
Step 2: Installation of the Phase 2 Groundwater Barrier Wall
Reguirem ent: Prior to mining the land within the groundwater barrier wall the
groundwater barrier wall shall be installed approximately following [he path shown on the
maps in Exhibit C-3 and C-4C. (See Page 24)
Requirement: The groundwater barrier wall shall not enclose the northeastern corner of
the Phase 2 area to allow for a smooth outflow of groundwater from 25`" Lane to the river.
(See Page 15)
STEP 3: Topsoil Salvage and Stockpiling
Requirement: Soil over lands to be mined shall be removed prior to mining. Soil will be
removed from each area as it is opened for mining rather than over the entire area all at
once. (See Page 26)
Requirement: Most of the soil removed from Phase 2 will be taken [o Phase 1 for use as
topdressing for backfilled areas. Sufficient Phase 2 soil will be retained in Phase 2 for use in
topdressing completed pit slopes above the expected high water level of a reservoir
established after completion of mining. (See Page 26)
Requirement: Any topsoil that is stockpiled for more than one season OR is not frequently
added [o will be seeded. (See Page 27 for discussion and seed mixture to be used.)
Pueblo East Pit Amendment 3 (2007) Exhibit D Page 5 of 34
