• PCBs -There are 148 PCB containing capacitors in use or
maintained at the mill facilities. These should be added as a line
item on the DMG task spreadsheet. Unit disposal cost per capacitor
is $601 as per information provided by RMCAT Environmental
Services, Inc. in Exhibit B for the mine. This addition increases the
total FW for this task from $0 to $88,985.
• Radiation Sources - As noted in Exhibit B, Henderson possesses 25
fixed level and density radiation gauging devices at the mine and mill
Exhibit B). Four (4) of these sources are located at the mine and 21
at the mill. As with DMG's Task 01 a, Task 05a contained no
provisions for disposal of radiological devises. Henderson has
determined that disposal of these sources amounts to $750 per
source for disposal and $250 per source for shipping and handling;
a total of $1000 per source. DMG should modify this task to add a
line item for radiation sources, increasing the total from $0 to
$21, 000.
3.2 Mine Site
3.2.1 Pond 2 -DMG ~-011
Pond 2 has been backfilled with clean fill material. Therefore, DMG Task 011 is
moot and the total cost is reduced from $3584 to $0. A recent photo of Pond 2 is
included as Exhibit D.
3.2.2 Wood Chips/Sewage Sludge (Purchase and Haul) -DMG #01p
Wood chips and sewage sludge were used successfully at the Urad mine, and
Climax has a permitted and active biosolids program at that site. However, it
should be clarified that Henderson did not specifically commit to the use of wood
chips and sewage sludge in the original Permit. Rather, the Permit stated
(Section 9.8) that those materials would be used "...if available...". Section 9.11
discusses the use of these materials at the mine site, then states that straw and
inorganic fertilizer will be used "If sewage and/or wood wastes are not available...".
DMG's Task 01 p estimates a total cost of $57,600 to purchase and haul wood
chips and sewage sludge to the mine site. Experience at Climax and at
Henderson over the last several years has been that these materials can be
6
