RCG agler, Bailly has
established frameworks for measuring ecological risk for species-specific, population and community-
scale studies, and is at the forefront of incorporating uncertainty analyses into ' k assessments.
RCG/fiagler, Bailly scientists are experts in exposure modeling, effects menu, and the
development and interpretation ofexposure-response relationships for various ecol gical and human
health endpoints. Examples include:
^ Ecological Rlsk Assessment et Supertuad Mlning Sites
This assignment for the EPA focused on developing specific method for wnducting
ecological risk assessments at mining sites. Key topics included determini g bioavailability
of mining-related wastes and techniques for determining natural backgro d conditions.
^ Environmental Toxirnlogy and Igjury Determination
Many projects performed by RCG/Hagler, Bailly scientists have addressed cute and chronic
aquatic toxicology studies, phytotoxicity investigations, and quantitative meats of injury
to wildlife and wildlife habitats using Habitat Evaluation Procedures (HE ).
^ Design of Contaminated Medla Sampllag
RCG/Hagler, Bailly has designed, conducted, and coordinated sampling of contaminated
media including soil, sediments, water, and biological materials in the co rse of managing
numerous injury assessments.
^ Human Health Risk Assessments of Environmental Hazards
This work has included risk assessments of ocean dumping, offshore oil and gas drilling, toxic
air pollutants, drinking water disinfection, groundwater contamination, and rious Superfund
hazardous waste sites. Analyses have been performed for the EPA and other regulatory
agencies.
^ Assessment of Sediment Contamination in Freshwater Lakes
This work includes the development of a model that generates relative risk
contaminants based on partitioning between environmental media.
for organic
