MINING PLAN (CONT)
rmmn® AetuL 2001
ExNlerr D
hillside as mining moved into the northwest corner. The elevation
of this area will not be mined to its final level initially, but
rather will be mined to the level of the adjoining floor and later
lowered to its final elevation as mining progress.
Once the face is removed mining would then begin to the
northwest towards the northwest corner of the mine and the north-
south face could then be gradually oriented so it is less visible
from the south. In this area the mine walls will be like what is
permitted at this time. in the two areas where vertical benches
will be left, the overall bench slopes (horizontal to vertical) may
vary between Oh:ly and l.lh:ly. The Pre-Miaing Plan Map - Map
ExLibit C shows what the existing natural slopes are, about 0.8h:1v
in certain places along the south end of the property, and approxi-
mately how the site looks at this time.
From the digline to the top of the reservoir the benches will
be created in an irregular pattern to breakup the straight line
regularity normally associated with a quarry. A level area approx-
imately 40 feet wide will be left around the reservoir and the
slopes into the bottom will be mined 3h to Sv. This area is in the
building envelope area and would be graded and shaped until devel-
oped.
Mining would then progress to the east thru the new area.
Along this north side mining will change. The plan is to create a
series of uniform benches. They will be higher and longer with
trenches excavated on the flat surfaces to facilitate reclamation.
it is anticipated that large amounts of finer material that has no
market will be available as the mine progresses and this will
provide a place to dispose of it. To do this the south facing
slope will be mined using 60' high by 180' wide benches that will
be Backfilled with the overburden and fines created during process-
ing. The trench to be mined on the benches will act as a "key" to
lock the compacted fill so it creates a stable
5 (Revised 8/19/02)
