discussed earlier, are not anticipated.
SP 13-6: Spring & Pond 13-6 overlies an area mined during the erci of 1992 (Panel
B). ZYris location was observed in June (0.0017 cfs inflow; pond full),
July (0.0006 cfs inflow; pond full), and August (no measurable inflow;
porn 1/3 full) 1992. The June inflow measut~ement was wnitted from the
AHR. No water quality samples were collected. In June and July, samples
could have been collected but were not as QOVOC questioned the utility of
this information. The spring was still functiorurxl and had not been
noticeably disrupted by subsidence. A sufficient database for the pre-
mising water quality at this location has been established and, if
neoesssary, additional water quality information can be obtained in the
future. All mining which could potentially effect this site has been
completed and significant water quality impacts, as discussed earlier, are
not anticipated.
S 24-1': Spring 24-1 overlies an area of the Fast mine last active in 1983. This
spring is essentially a wet spot in a roadcut. This site was visited in
June (damp), July, and August (dry) 1992. No water quality sales were
obtained as no flows were observed. No further monitoring efforts were
expended at this spring as it was presumed conditions remained largely
uncharged with no measurable flaws occurring throughout the remainder of
the year A review of the water quality database available at this spring
indicates all water quality sales were collected after mining had
occurred at this site. The flow magnitudes historically associated with
this feature are non-measurable in all instar~s and further monitoring of
a feature this insignificant seems inappropriate and unnecessary.
S 25Z: Spring 25 is located 300 feet south aryl at an elevation approximately 10
feet lower than the *+Aar~t coal mined during 1982. All available data in
the database was collected during and after 1983. 'This site was observed
once in 1992 aryl found to be da with no measurable flow occurring. No
water quality sample was obtained as no flow were observed. A sufficient
water quality database exists to characterize water quality at this site
though all samples were ~llected after mining. No further monitoring was
conducted during 1992 as the spring was observed with no measurable flews
and preslmied to remain in this condition throughout the remainder of the
year.
SP 16': Spring & Pond 16 lies outside the area of any potential mining impacts.
'The porn] was observed in July (full) with an inflow of 2.7 gpm occurring
from the spring. No water quality sample was obtained as a sufficient
water quality database exists for this feature and no potential mine
impacts are reasonably projected to occur at this site. Zhis site was
visited again in August aryl observed (full) with a trickle inflow from the
spring. 'The July observation was entered twice in the AHR. No further
monitoring was conducted during 1992 as the spring was observed with no
measurable floras aryl presumed to remain in this condition throughout the
remainder of the year. There is no practical reason to continue
monitoring at Porn & Spring 16 as no mine related impacts can reasonably
be expected to oa,~ur at this site.
SP 17': Spring & Porxi 17 lies outside the area of any potential mining impacts.
'The pond was observed in June (full) with an inflow of 1.4 gpm occurring
fran the spring. A water quality sale was obtained and full suite
8
