Page 2
June 7, 1990
Snyder Correction Actions
Bruce Humphries
Work yet to be done:
1. Disturbance Areas #2 and #3 must be graded
according to the plan. See description of problems.
2. Silt fences need to be installed on Disturbance
Area #1.
3. HR-6 needs to be installed.
Q. Trees must be planted in Williams Canyon and on t•he
roadside disturbance areas.
5. The sediment basin must be constructed.
Problems encountered during the implementation:
1. Disturbance Areas #2 and 1f3 are being examined from
the standpoint of solving the logistical problems of
removing the material. The method used on area #4 cannot be
used here as the slopes are too steep to construct any kind
of bench from which equipment could work. The method used
on Area //1 cannot be used because removal is needed rather
than just reshaping. Now that the thunderstorm season is
upon us it is our opinion that it would be inadvisable tc do
any work in regrading roadside disturbances #2 and #3 as
there would be little opportunity to control erosion by the
time the work is completed. Therefore, regrading of areas
#2 and #3 will be delayed until autumn and revegetation
implemented at that time.
2. Disturbance Area /{!, needs to have the grades
adjusted. In order to remove the material a bench needed to
be constructed out of the fill material. This resulted in
the production of a longitudinal shape that is somewhat
different from that intended. To correct the problem a
large dozer must be acquired that has a cable and winch
attached. This will allow the use of a small dozer to
finish grading the slope while the large dozer, parked on
the roadway, holds the small dozer on the elope and helps it
to move up and down the steep slopes.
