.. ,

January 31, 1985
Mr. Kenny Schrader
Page Two
3/ Please provide details concerning the amount and location of all
topsoil removal and storage.
4~ It is suggested that all topsoil piles be sloped to gradients less
than 3:1 and if they are to remain in place for more than one
growing season, a vegetation cover should be established to avoid
II loss of topsoil by erosion. Please comment on this suggestion.
~8) The permit indicates that no earth moving will occur prior to final
slope stabilization. Please verify that such activities are or
~I will occur for topsoil segregation and storage.
&) Please state the acreage of lands which were disturbed by prior
mining (as portrayed on the pre-mining map).
`11) Please explain how Lone Creek flooded the pit area.
a) Does the stream now flow through the site?
b) Will an exit area for the stream be established or does one
exist?
c) How much water is currently contained within the pit? Please
give an estimate of depth.
~) Please verify that pumping will occur after the upcoming spring
runoff season.
81j The permit indicates the areas of major, moderate, and minor
disturbance to be five, ten, and five acres respectively. Please
indicate if this has changed and if possible tie this to the
revised mine plan map.
~) Please clarify the sequence of operations as referred to in Section
E (Exhibit D) of your permit and indicate general timetables for
these stages.
1J) Please indicate the type of stratum directly below the deposit to
be mined.
- Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
The plan to reclaim the area to achieve an improved wildlife habitat is
excellent. It seems that your plan is reasonably sound, however, some
points should be clarified for your protection.
l~ Section A (Exhibit E) of your permit refers to screening mounds
that might be "constructed around the periphery". Please explain
this statement and indicate whether these mounds will or will not
be built.
`) Please verify that no slopes will be steeper than 3:1 and close to
4:1 where possible.
