Box 758
of Engineering
Greeley, Colorado 80632
Re: Weld County - Pierce Gravel Pit
File No. 80-121
Dear Mr. Schraeder:
I have reviewed your permit amendment and have the following questions and
comments that should be addressed in detail at least two weeks prior to the
March 27-28, 1985 meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. Some of this
information is verification of our January 21, 1985 telephone conversation so
please indicate any areas of disagreement.
Exhibit C - Pre-Minin /Minin Plan Ma
Please submit a revised pre-mining map that clearly delineates all
of those areas disturbed prior to original permitting with pit area
contours, if available.
2y Please also submit a revised mining plan map showing:
~ a) Present work areas(s)
b) Projected work stages
c) Topsoil piles
d) Material stockpiles
e) Equipment locations
f) Haul and work roads
g) Entrance locations
h) The points at which Lone Creek presently enters and exits the
pit area.
- Exhibit D - Mining Plan
l~ It is recognized that topsoil salvage cannot occur on areas
excavated prior to permitting. The SCS has indicated a need and
availability of topsoil or suitable growth medium. Please
acknowledge that topsil is being stripped to about 18 inches on
newly disturbed areas and is being stockpiled in the SW corner of
the operation.
2~ Please indicate how the topsil is being segregated to avoid
degradation of this soil material.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
