(NWCC), to conduct a cut slope
evaluation/stability analysis for the existing cut slope along
the south side of RCR #27A. Mr. Brian Len, P.E. visited the site
on May 27th to prepare the cost proposal for the project (see
attached copy of proposal) dated May 28th. Following receipt of
this proposal Seneca contacted Mr. Dennis Hallenbeck to gain
access on his land to do the drilling. Dennis had some concerns
since he was under the impression everything was fine and no
additional disturbance needed to be conducted on or near his
property.
On May 30th, I then contacted Mr. Robbie Willson, Peabody Western
Coal Company geologist, to discuss the potential location of any
old drill holes that might have been drilled during our
exploration program in the vicinity of the road cut. Robbie
called me back on June 2nd and said that there were only two
drill holes in this area, and that they were over 4,000 feet
away. These two holes were drilled in May & June 1962 and that no
geophysical logs/overburden analysis/rock strength data existed
for these holes.
i then phoned Larry that same morning and notified him on what I
was able to find out from Robbie and that no existing data was
available. We agreed that if NWCC was willing to write a letter
stating that based on the existing conditions that the slope was
stable, this would be acceptable to the Division. i discussed
this option with Brian, who then prepared the additional attached
Seneca Coal Company • P.O.
