Permit Revision Adequacy
July 6, 2004
50, 56 and 57. The Division assumes these were not included because the only change to the
map in the present PAP would be the location of the permit boundary. Please update these
maps with the revised permit boundary or, alternatively, MCC could create a label to affix to
each of the old maps indicating a reference map for the correct permit boundary.
2.03.10 Other Licenses and Permits
Please update the Table 1 (p. 2.03-9) to indicate the renewed NPDES permit.
2.04.4 Cultural and Historic Resources
4. The State Historical Preservation Officer commented that no resources are known, but should
azchaeological resources be discovered during the project activities, work should be stopped
until the SHPO could provide consultation. The Division requests that MCC add a statement
committing to that action in section 2.04.4.
On page 2.04-8, please add reference to the methane degas wells.
2.04.6 Geology Description
6. The Division requests that MCC retain Tables 2 and 3 in the text. They had been deleted from
the submitted text.
7. In the discussion of B-seam (page 2.04-23) the Division requests that MCC add language to
discuss the South-of-Divide permit revision area but not delete the existing discussion as it
currently exists in the PAP. The information there is valuable and should not be lost to the
PAP.
8. On page 2.04-25, the last sentence in section "E-seam Reserves" states "mining plans do not
include reserves in the northwest portion of the permit area." Should that state "northwest
portion of the SOD permit addition?" Please correct and clarify.
9. In reference to page 2.04-30, it is requested that MCC add mapped faults to the geology map
(Map 9.)
10. Regarding the discussion on page 2.04-31, please discuss whether any indications have been
identified of surface or groundwater resources in the SOD area being associated with faults.
1 I. In the "Rockfall" section on page 2.04-39, please discuss the potential effects of subsidence on
rockfall.
12. On page 2.04-41 the first sentence on the page is extremely important. Please make certain that
the reference for that statement is cleaz.
