or his designee. If these BMPs show erosion, sedimentation, or other conditions that aze likely to
interfere with the proper operation of these controls, repairs or maintenances of the BMPs will be
completed as soon as practicable. At a minimum, catch basins shall have sediment removed
when the depth of sediment reaches one foot. Locations where flows leave the disturbed areas
shall be examined. If there is evidence that significant sediment is leaving the Site, additional
BMPs such as hay bales, silt fences, or check dams will be implemented to further improve the
quality of stonnwater runoff.
4.3.5. Good Housekeeping
Good housekeeping practices that have been implemented include maintaining a clean, orderly
facility; placing trash and refuse in proper areas and containers; and promptly cleaning up minor
spills of petroleum products or other chemicals.
9.3.5. -Spill Prevention and Response Procedures
Spill prevention and response procedures are documented in the facility Spill Prevention Control
and Countermeasures Plan.
9.3.7. Employee Education
All new hires with responsibilities under this SWMP are required to have training related to
stormwater pollution prevention. This training shall include topics such as spill response, BMPs
implementation and maintenance, ,good housekeeping and material management practices.
Employees are aiso instructed while on-the job. Once a year, refresher training for stormwater
pollution prevention and spill prevention and response is conducted.
4.3.8. Identification of Discharges other than-Stormwater
The Site has been evaluated and no discharges other than stormwater discharges have been
identified with the following exception: small amounts of water seep from the hillside neaz the
.Mount Royale adit and neaz one of the inactive adits. This water is considered to be shallow
subsurface flow of surface water, not groundwater. These discharges are allowable non-
stonnwater discharges under the general stormwater permit for metal mining operations (Part
I.D.3).
4.3.9 Comprehensive Inspection
The S WMP Administrator or his designee will make a thorough inspection of the stormwater
management system at least twice ayear-(in the spring and fall). These inspections will be
documented, summarized and cover overall compliance with the stormwater management plan.
Disturbed areas and areas used for material storage that are exposed to precipitation shall be
inspected for evidence of, or the potential for, pollutants entering the drainage system.
Undisturbed areas not impacted or poterrtialIy impacted by arty mine-related activities do not
need to be inspected. Structural, sediment, erosion, re-vegetation, spill control and housekeeping
measures will be observed to ensure that they are operating correctly.
