Implementation of the monitoring program awaits completion of
the tree plantings. Reports will begin with the 1991 annual report (due
May 27, 1991).
REASONS FOR NOT COMPLETING WORK THAT WAS TO BE COMPLETED BY JUNE 11
1990:
1. WILLIAMS CANYON:
e. Trees not planted by June 1, 1990.
Throughout the violation hearings considerable interest in the
monitoring of the success rate of the tree planting was expressed by
several parties. If these trees were planted before the trees were
planted along the access road to the quarry, then data produced on t:ae
Williams Canyon tree planting (begun in April or May 1990) could not
validly be compared to the success rate of tree plantings along the
access road if those trees were planted in the autumn (late September or
early October 1990). To allow the monitoring system to produce the most
useful information for future applications at this operation and oth~;r
tree planting areas, it was decided trees in both areas should be
planted at the same time, using the same methods. If monitoring the
success rate had not been of such interest during the hearings as
Page 3 of 7 SNYDER CAP TIMETABLE ADJUSTMENT 6-20-90
