Reclamation & reseeding will be initiated on Phase Ia and Phase Ib after permanent placement of
excess overburden and topsoils on each of the respective 3:1 side slopes. Reclamation of Phase
lc will not occur until after beginning Phase II. When phase II is started and concurrent with the
completion of mining the upper reaches of the Phase Ic southwest 3:1 slope, excess overburden
and topsoils encountered will be placed on this throughout the phase Ic azea. If necessary excess
overburden and topsoils not used in reclamation of the Phase I area will remain stored in a
localized and convenient area of the Phase I pit until it is known that they will not be needed for
reclamation of Phase II.
Phasel/
Phase II will begin concurrent with the beginning of reclamation of Phase Ic . Phase II will
encompass a total permit area of 69.7 ac. The floor of the Phase II mined area will account for
40.7ac. of this total. Phase II is divided into two subphases Phase IIa and Phase IIb. Phase IIa
will begin at the eastern edge as designated on the. [n total Phase I[a will impact approximately
+/- 20.5 ac. with 19.0 ac. in 3:1 slopes and 1.5 ac. in floor area.
Phase IIb will begin with the completion of Phase IIa. Phase lib is the final Phase and will
continue to expand the pit to the. In total Phase IIb will disturb approximately +/-23.6ac. with
21.7ac. in 3:1 slopes and 1.9 ac. in floor area.
Reclamation & reseeding will be initiated on Phase II as Phase Ila comes to a close. Concurrent
operation in both Phase IIa and Phase lib will allow excess stored overburden and topsoils that
were originally excavated during previous phases to be permanently placed on the slopes
established in phase IIa. Excess overburden and topsoils that were stored in Phase I will be used
to as necessary to reclaim the Phase IIa acreage. The remaining excess overburden and topsoils
that still remain in the Phase Ia storage area will need to be regraded and contoured along the
nearest backslope and reclaimed. After completion of Phase IIb the remaining overburden and
topsoils will be uniformly distributed over the remaining slopes and pit floor to leave a uniform
and pleasing appearance.
B. Earthmoving
Earthmoving is proposed to be done primarily with loaders and dozers as well as scrapers. The
depth of the deposit is great enough that earthmoving will be a minimal part of the operation. The
primary earthmoving will occur as a result of moving excess overburden and topsoils.
C. Water diversion and Impoundments
This is a Dry Pit operation with no water diversions and/or impoundments.
BLM / Weq End M-92-017 - E\-D.N'PD
