Mr. Randy Spencer
Ms. Susan Mowry
August 1, 1985
• H.1
Page Seven
Bear Coal Company agreed to propose an alternate method for
covering seed during reclamation.
• I.1
Bear Coal Company stated that they believed that the two
additional subsidence monuments had been placed and would
check to make sure. Bear Coal Company will submit these
findings to the Division. The Division agreed to provide
Bear Coal Company with the letter from Dan Matthews dated
November 3, 1982, and a memo from Jim Pendleton dated
October 19, 1982, concerning subsidence monitoring.
• J.1
Bear Coal Company stated that the maps referenced as 1, 2
and 3 were supplied to the Division under map numbers 8, 12,
and 6 in the Bear Coal Company permit application.
However, upon further research of the Bear Coal Files, this
was found not to be the case. Maps No. 1 and No. 2 may
refer to the Bear No. 1 and No. 2 Reclamation Plan and the
Bear No. 1 and No. 2 Post Mining Topo Map respectively.
These maps well be submitted as part of the re-organization
effort.
• K.1
Bear Coal Company stated that there are no open roads to the
springs or subsidence monitoring sites. Ute Engineering,
the company which does the survey work, accesses these sites
by foot.
• L.1
Bear Coal Company agreed to check on the zoning laws with
the Gunnison County commissioners and would report back to
the Division.
• L.2
Bear Coal Company agreed, depending on the outcome of
discussions with the Gunnison County commissioners, to
determine which structures would be left following the
reclamation of Bear No. 3, and the reclamation plan in the
permit would be changed accordingly.
