n
u
MINING AND RECLAMATION PLAN
MT. GUNNISON N0. 1 MINE

February 1981
Revised March 1984
JUSTIFICATION FOR RECLAMATION COSTS
A. Ripping - A Caterpillar D9 Bulldozer could be used for the ripping. Other
makes of bulldozers could be used for this ripping activity. The
Caterpillar D9 Bulldozer should not be construed as the only make and
model that can do the job.
Topsoiling From Stockpile - A Caterpillar 639D Wheel Scraper could be used
for the replacement of the topsoil. Other makes of scrapers could be used
for the transportation of the topsoil. The Caterpillar 639D Scraper
should not be construed as the only make and model that can do the jab.
The bulldozer 70% availability factor is used to account for operation
delay, minor repairs, altitude correction, and other somewhat intangible
factors that are not always quantifiable. The land at the Mt. Gunnison
si should be fairly easy to rip.
B. A 65 availability/efficiency factor should be used to Berate the
erfor ance of the scraper. The factor is used to account for operator
lay minor repairs, altitude correction, and other somewhat intangible
fac ors that are not always quantifiable.
C. An hourly labor rate of E20.50/hour was used. This rate includes straight
wages, fringe benefits, workman's compensation, etc.
D. The attached chart shows how the cost was calculated for the hourly cost
of the machines. These calculated costs are in fairly good agreement with
estimates given ARCO by various contractors.
E. Fuel costs were based upon b1.10/gallon and fuel consumption rates as per
the Caterpillar Handbook.
Detail of Mobile Equipment Costs
RIPPING
Area must be ripped to a depth of one foot.
Volume to be rioped (yd.3) (per acre):
1 Foot X 43,560 ft•2 Yd~3 = 1 613
acre 27 acre
4-34d
