MINING AND RECLAMATION PLAN February 1981
MT. GUNNISON N0. 1 MINE Revised March 1984
From Caterpillar Performance Handbook use D9H with 9D shank.
Seismic Velocity of Material = 3,000 feet/second.
Can rip approximately 2,300 yd .3/hour.
This is an average of ripping production under ideal and adverse conditions.
Use 70% machine availability/efficiency.
2,300 x .7 availability = 1,610 yd.3/hour.
The hourly rental and operating costs were detemined in the following manner
as recommended in the Rental Rate Bluebook for Construction Equipment
published by Equipment Guidebook Company. Values are based upon 80% of rates
(updated to 1984 dollars) listed in the Bluebook which is the normal discount
quoted by contractors. Calculations are based upon a 60-hour work week.
Estimated Usage (Hours/Week) 60
Rental Costs
1. Total Rental Cost 340.28 per hour
2. Total Operating Costs 37.00 per hour
3. Machine Rental & Operating Costs 77.28 per hour
4. Operating Hour Wage 20.50 per hour
5. Total Rental and Operating Costs: 397.78 per hour
397.78/hour = Round to 398/hour
(1984 dollars)
Cost per acre
1613 yd.3 of material per acre can be ripped by a D9 Bulldozer
per hour. Therefore, total operating and rental costs per acre
of material = 398/Acre.
TOPSOILING FROM STOCKPI
Topsoiling requires approximately 18" cover as the most topsoil required.
(Previously, 8" of topsoil was required. These calculations are based upon
the new 18" topsoil requirement).
1.5' X 43,560 ft.2 X yd'3 = 2,420 yd.3/acre
27 ft.3
For topsoiling use a scraper.
4-34e
