. forage allocation for cattle. The plan has been developed
in concert with the local wildlife conservation officer
•• and is not expected to adversely effect wildlife objectives
~, of BLM's management plan for the adjacent public lands.
C4 Topsoiling

The gravelly loam and sandy clay loam surface material is
approximately 6-18 inches thick. As new areas are opened,
this layer will be stripped and segregated from other
overburden spoil. Topsoil storage areas are identified

on Exhibit C. These areas are located so as not to be
i.n the main area of operation ds well as protected from
natural erosional elements of wind and water. Woody
vegetation which covers only 15% of the surface will be
either incorporated into the topsoil or stockpiled for
use as firewood, if possible. That wood not scavanged will
be burned.
C5 Revegetation
The revegetation concept is to establish a quick cover to
prevent erosion and control surface run-off and to allow
native species to gain hold to produce along-lasting,
diverse vegetative cover to serve as a base for the climax
Woodland-Shrub ecosystem. The plan calls for the re.place-
ment of stockpiled topsoil on the. surface once final
grading/shaping is completed. Plant species utilized will
include Indian rice grass, sand dropseed, blue grams grass,
mountain mahogany, b_ig sage brush, and possibly a fairway
crested or western wheat grassm smooth brome, or needle
•
- '.,
..
