M. S. Hayes
Page 2
June 29, 1990
for the Bear No.l and No. 2 Mines should occur 10 years after the
1982 reclamation project or 1991.
5. Pages 2.03-16, 2.05-3R, 2.05-5R and 4.20-1 were revised
to reference B-Seam mining and Map 9a, the B-Seam mine projec-
tion.
6. Pages 2.05-6R and 2.05-7R were revised to reflect the
completion of the C-Seam mining and the current and projected
mining sequence in the B-Seam.
7. Pages 2.06-4 and 4.05-2 were revised to reflect the
fact that Bear Coal does not process coal on site.
8. The discussion on page 2.05-7R regarding storage of gob
underground was not revised. This discussion relates to hoca the
mine was rehabilitated in 1982. The discussion of gob storage
and gob disposal was expanded on page 4.09-1R. Rule 4.09.1(15)
is applicable to returning waste to the mine which is not rele-
vant to Bear's mining operation.
9. The discussion on page 2.05-25R regarding underground
development waste was updated and expanded. Rule 'L.05.3(9) is
also only applicable to returning waste to the mine.
10. The best information available for the lithology of DH-
1 and DH-2 is presented on Map 7. Anchor Coal Company had DH-1
and DH-2 drilled in 1978. According to a representative of that
company, DH-1 and DH-2 were abandoned appropriately. In any
case, Bear Coal Company does not consider the abandonment of DH-1
and DH-2 to be its responsibility.
11. The B-Seam fuel characterization was added on page
2.04-21.
12. Geochemical analyses of B-Seam floor coal, roof rock
overlying the B-Seam, and temporary waste storage piles #1 and #2
are tabulated on page 2.04-24a. This data was evaluated accord-
ing to the guidelines for which the C-Seam geochemical data was
evaluated on pages 2.04-22 through 2.04-28.
13. Added discussion of water rights to page 4.05-10.
According to the information made available to me, water consump-
tion at the mine has not been monitored very closely. The Opera-
tor recently installed a flow meter in the line feeding the mine
which should provide some reliable water consumption information
by the end of the year. Therefore, the issue of water consump-
tion will be addressed in the next Annual Hydrologic Report.
