(5) There will be no drill or auger holes that are part of the mining operation. Since this is an <br />open pit operation, there will be no adits or shafts to be sealed. <br />(6) Backslopes will be finished at 3H:1 V or flatter, which is flatter than adjacent slopes. The <br />dry pit operation will not involve any lakes or ponds. <br />(7) The landowner and operator's choice of reclamation is rangeland. The reclaimed area can <br />be transversed by farm machinery, but this is not essential to the final use. <br />6 .2 Water <br />(1) Hvdrologv and water uq ality. <br />" This dry pit operation will have no effect on water rights or hydrology. The operation is designed to <br />retain historic drainage patterns. <br />(a) Since there aze no existing water rights to be injured or affected by this operation, it <br />should not be in conflict with applicable Colorado water laws. <br />(b) This dry pit operation will be in compliance with applicable federal and, Colorado <br />nn water quality laws and regulations, since no water or water rights are involved. <br />~p (c) There will be no dredge and Sll activities with this operation to come under the <br />T purview of Colorado and federal requirements. <br />(2) Earthdams -none are necessary or proposed for this operation. <br />6.3 Wildlife <br />(1) <br />No special safety or protection methods for wildlife aze pro- posed. The wildlife species rated by <br />D.O.W. do not have critical periods in their life cycle that will be affected by this operation. D.O.W. <br />states: <br />"There is no shortage of this type of habitat in the azea". <br />(2) Habitat management is not part of the rangeland reclamation plan. D. o. W. comments do <br />not suggest any unique opportunities to enhance or benefit wildlife, since there is an abundance of this <br />type of habitat in the area. <br />
