H-35
• H.7.2 Mitigation 1~7easures by Species
Mina Haar
t~iitigation of impact on these species will require effective and rapid
restoration of disturbed areas. Disturbed areas will be restored
by reseeding witFl grasses, fortis, and shrubs as described in the
' Reclamation Plan (Eixhibit E )•
Human activity in all areas will be controlled to reduce adverse
impacts (harassment, poaching, road kills, etc.) on the deer. All
travel will be restricted to existing roads to minimize possible
habitat destruction. Speed controls will be established in the
vicinity of the project area to reduce road kill. Car pooling among
project employees hill be encouraged to reduce the potential for road
kills of wildlife.
• Any fences surrounding the project area will be built so that they do
not impede wildlife migration, but will prevent livestock from entering
the project area. Where consumption of contaminated water would be
detrimental to animals, a fence will be built to prevent access by
wildife and livestock.
' Impacts on severe winter range (in the well field) will occur at a rate
of 3.5 acres per year in years 3 through 10, and 15 through 20. During
all other years, construction and operation of the project will take
place on winter range. A total of about 250 acres will be disturbed by
i the project, assuming a 30 year mine life. Of this, approximately 50
acres is severe winter range, and approximately 200 acres is winter
range.
Because construction of the well field will result in a habitat con-
figuration characterized by small areas of disturbance (3.5 acres per
• year) within large r• areas of single habitat types, the total habitat
THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS TRADE SECRETS AND PRIVILEGED, CONFIDENTIAL AND .~ 2
P NOFORMATION.OPUPSUANTTO LA W, THOSE POR (IONS MARKED PCONFIDENTIAL AN~,d~n ~f
MAY NOT BE DISCLC15E0, COPIED OR MADE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC INSPECTION.
