4.5 Statistical Analyses
Formulas used in determining sample adequacy and for comparing the pre-mine to
post-mine data followed those outlined in the 1995 CDMG Bond Release Guideline.
Formulas employed for determination of acceptable shrub densities were used as approved
by the CDMG and are further discussed in Section 6.2.
4.6 Plant Species List
Scientific plant names used in this study correspond to those most commonly used
and which aze familiaz to most people. Species which could not be identified in the field
were taken to the Rocky Mountain Herbarium in Lazamie, Wyoming, and verified. The
species fists included in Appendix A represents plants recorded along the sample transects
and other plants observed on reclaimed areas during the course of field work.
4.7 ~ecies Diversity
Species diversity was derived from the 1996 and 1997 cover data collected on the
rec]aimed and reference study areas and the pre-mine affected area data collected in 1980.
This was accomplished by tabulating the numbers of individuals by life-form for each study
area. The percent relative cover of dominant grasses and fortis recorded on the reclaimed
azeas was also determined.
5.0 SAMPLING RESULTS
Plant species lists for the reclaimed azeas and reference azeas are presented in
• Appendix A while the field data sheets are contained in Appendix B.
