for the 1996 and 1997 studies aze plotted on the maps included N Appendix F.
Representative photographs of the reclaimed study area are shown in Appendix C.
5.1 Sample Site Locations
All sampling points are plotted on the maps provided in Appendix F. These
include the cover, production, and shrub density sample sites.
5.2 Cover
Cover data by plant species, life-form, and ground cover class for the 1996,
revised 1996, 1996 non-contiguous areas, 1997, and 1997 non-contiguous areas are
shown in Tables la, lb, lc, ld, and le, respectively. Field data sheets are included in
Appendix B.
1996 Data
Overall highest absolute vegetation cover for the original 1996 (Table la) data was
observed on the Chokecherry reference area followed by the Aspen reference area,
reclamation azea, Oak Brush reference area and the Sagebrush reference area. Absolute
total ground cover was highest for the reclamation azea followed by the Aspen reference
azea, Chokecherry reference area, Oak Blush reference area, and the Sagebrush reference
area. Vegetation cover on both the reclaimed and reference aeeas were dominated by
perennial grasses. The original 1996 data showed that the reclaimed area had higher cover
of perennial grasses while all the reference areas exhibited a higher cover of perennial
forbs.

7
