SPECIFICATION G <br />ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS <br />1 SCOPE <br />This specification covers the furnishing, installing, operating, maintaining and <br />removal of pumping, piping, barriers, and other equipment necessary for the <br />control of stormwater and process water quality associated with the work <br />performed by the Contractor; and administration and management of Fugitive <br />Dust. <br />2 GENERAL <br />2.1 The Contractor shall furnish all pipe and provide all labor and equipment <br />necessary for temporary process water bypasses and dewatering excava- <br />tions. The limits of the process water system are delineated on Drawing <br />No. 5-1-1003. Process water includes any water within the process water <br />boundary and includes water stored in East Branch Reservoir and on the <br />Tailing Ponds. <br />2.2 Contractor may use the existing canals and pipelines associated with the <br />existing interceptor system to dewater excavations and control the inflow <br />of water into Work areas. During the performance of the Work, it will be <br />the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure that no process water is <br />discharged into the clean water systems. <br />2.3 At the completion of the Work or at such other time determined by the <br />Engineer, Contractor shall remove all environmental control equipment. <br />3 WATER DIVERSION <br />3.1 As required for the performance of this work, the Contractor shall maintain <br />all necessary slopes, ditches, and drains, and shall furnish, operate, and <br />' maintain all pumps needed such that dewatering can be accomplished in a <br />manner that will prevent loss of fines from the structural earthwork, <br />maintain stability of excavated slopes, and allow the work to be performed <br />to the requirements of this specification. <br />3.2 The Contractor shall employ a proper method of dewatering, subject to the <br />acceptance of the Engineer and Owner. <br />SPEC G -ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS <br />PAGE 1 <br />
