3.2 The precast sections shall conform to the dimensions, lines, and grades <br />shown on the Drawings. All precast assemblies shall be designed, and <br />fabricated by the precast supplier to withstand the ground loads indicated <br />and inferred by the location of ground surface as shown on the Drawings. <br />All assemblies of concrete and metal hatches and covers shall be designed <br />to withstand a live loading equivalent or exceeding standard highway load <br />designation HS-25. <br />3.3 The precast sections shall be inspected by the Contractor as they are <br />delivered to the site. Any damage to the sections or characteristics that <br />are not in conformance with the Drawings shall be reported to the Engineer <br />prior to handling or use by the Contractor. <br />3.4 The Contractor shall submit shop drawings for the precast items to the <br />Engineer for review and approval prior to fabrication of the items. <br />4 MATERIALS <br />4.1 CEMENT <br />Cement shall be an approved brand of Portland Cement complying with all <br />the requirements of ASTM C 150, Type II or V. Cement with a C3A <br />content exceeding 5 percent shall not be used. If cement of this type is <br />not available, a cement with a C3A content between 5 and 8 percent may <br />be used in conjunction with a 10 percent reduction in water-cement ratio, <br />or an approved cement/fly ash mixture that provides an acceptable level of <br />sulfate resistance. <br />5 INSTALLATION <br />5.1 Precast concrete manholes and vaults shall be installed in strict <br />conformance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
