6.3.2 The Contractor shall submit a proposed plan for performing the <br />Bent Strap Test, including a description of the equipment to be <br />used, to the Engineer for approval. The Contractor must <br />demonstrate the functionality of the test procedure using a sample <br />of pipe of the same thickness as specified for the Project. <br />6.4 VISUAL JOINT INSPECTION <br />6.4.1 The Contractor shall provide adequate notice and opportunity to the <br />Engineer for a visual inspection of all HDPE butt fusion welds, and <br />all other pipe connections. If necessary for complete inspection, <br />the Contractor shall provide equipment and/or manpower that may <br />be required by the Engineer to perform the inspection. Any joints <br />that are deemed unsatisfactory by the Engineer shall be removed <br />and remade at the Contractor's expense. <br />6.4.2 The inspection criteria shall be ,based on the manufacturer's <br />recommendations, as welt as the recommendations described in the <br />specifications cited herein. <br />6.5 ULTRASONIC JOINT INSPECTION <br />6.5.1 The Contractor shall inspect all joints made by Time-of-Flight <br />Diffraction ultrasonic test methods. The entire circumference of all <br />joints made shall be tested. An electronic record, as well as a hard <br />copy of the test results for all joints tested shall be provided to the <br />Engineer at least daily or as requested, and at the end of pipeline <br />construction. Any and all joints that are deemed unsatisfactory by <br />the Engineer shall be removed and remade at the Contractor's <br />expense. <br />6.6 SURFACE DAMAGE <br />6.6.1 The Contractor shall provide adequate notice and opportunity to the <br />Engineer for a visual inspection of all HDPE pipe surfaces. If <br />necessary for complete inspection, the Contractor shall provide <br />equipment and/or manpower that may be required by the Engineer <br />to perform the inspection. The depth of surface damage shall not <br />exceed 10 percent of the minimum wall thickness of the pipe. <br />Excessive damage will require the removal and replacement of the <br />damaged sections. <br />SPEC.
