5.2.3 The Contractor shall prepare and suhmit to the Engineer a written
procedure for butt fusion of the polyethylene pipe and fittings. The
procedure shall include a detailed description of the procedure (time
periods, fusion temperatures, and pressures) as well as a
description of qualified personnel and proposed equipment to be
used. The procedure will also include proposed QA/QC procedures.
The procedure shall be qualified by the pipe and fitting
manufacturer and submitted to the Engineer for approval.
5.2.4 The pipe shall be handled, inspected, and stored by the Contractor
according to the recommendations in the PPI Handbook of
Polyethylene Pipe -Inspections, Test, and Satety Considerations.
5.2.5 The polyethylene pipe may be cold bent to radius' not less than the
following, for alignment of the pipe without the use of fittings.
Exceptions to these limitations must be approved by the Engineer.
No Flange or Fitting With Flange or Fitting
Pipe Minimum Bend Minimum Bend
Size (inl Radius Iftl Radius Iftl
26 65 220
5.2.6 Joints between plain ends of polyethylene pipe shall be made by
butt fusion when possible.
