Southfield Mine
Minor Revision Request No. 16
South Fan Installation
regulations and any periodic maintenance or necessary repairs. This
will normally involve one light-vehicle round trip daily and is consistent
with the light-use designation.
Establish Alternative Drainage Control
With the exception of the powerline extension, the entire area to be
disturbed by the proposed activities has been disturbed by the previous
mining activities and no significant reclamation has occurred. In
addition, the total proposed surtace disturbance of approximately 0.4
acres is small relative to both the Southfield disturbance area and the
associated drainage area.
Both the existing Monarch No. 4 mine workings and the planned
Southfield workings, which will extend into adjacent underground areas,
slope to the northwest away from the surface. There is no evidence of
groundwater discharge to the surface from the underground workings
and none is anticipated.
In order to minimize any potential sedimentation and control surface
runoff from the proposed activities, EFCI plans to establish containment
ditches and berms downgradient of both the fan installation and the cut
material stockpile. These structures would be established prior to site
grading or other surtace disturbance. The configuration of these
drainage control structures are illustrated by Figure 16-1, Typical ~~
Drainage Control Structures, and their locations are shown on the South
Mine Fan Installation Map, (Map MR16-1). Hydrologic calculations used
to size the proposed drainage structures are included in this application
package as Appendix A, Drainage Design Documentation. No
supplemental drainage control is proposed for the powerline extension
<: roM P ie revno18.B80
r3/2J/BI apm
