Southfield Mine <br />Minor Revision Request No. f6 <br />South Fan Installation <br />Each of these construction activities as well as operational and reclamation <br />considerations are discussed in the following sections: <br />Grade Llght-Use Road and Install Drainage Structures <br />The proposed fan installation will be accessed using existing light-use <br />roads. Road access will be from County Road 92 near the mine <br />facilities, extending across the north end of the GEC East Pit <br />approximately 0.5 mile on the existing road, and connecting with the <br />existing Monarch No. 4 Mine road as shown on the revised Mine Plan <br />Map, (Map 17). From the junction east of the GEC East Pit, it is <br />approximately 12 miles to the site. Total road length is approximately <br />1.7 miles with approximately 1.4 miles of the road outside of the <br />Southfield permit area. The entire light-use road is on lands controlled <br />by EFCI under a coal lease and surface use agreement with the Corley <br />Company. <br />The portion of the light-use road from the junction east of the GEC East <br />Pit to the Monarch No 4. Mine is currently maintained by the landowner <br />to provide access to the upper portions of his property. Both this <br />section of road and the road crossing the GEC Pit area are in good <br />condition and will require no modification or improvement in conjunction <br />with the proposed activities. EFCI will grade this road prior to use to <br />provide a smooth operating surface and remove existing rocks and <br />debris and will then maintain the road on an as needed basis under an <br />agreement with the landowner. <br />With the exception of necessary movement of equipment and supplies <br />during construction and installation, the light-use road will be utilized <br />only for the daily fan inspection required under applicable MSHA <br />,zi~ia, .om 7 <br />
