• Topsoiling
Prior to the commencement of mining and the construction of
shop facilities, dump and. other structures, the available topsoil
on the affected areas will be stockpiled and seeded.
Woody vegetation present on the affected areas will be piled
for use by small mammals, birds and reptiles as requested by the
Colorado Division of Wildlife.
With the completion of operations, grading and scarification
of the affected areas will be implemented. Upon completion, the
stockpiled topsoil will be spread over these areas to a depth of six
to eight inches, if sufficient topsoil is available on site, and
seeded with the permitted mixture. Soil additives will be included
• if soil testing indicates a need.
Revegetation
The land will be revegetated to establish a diverse, effective
and long-lasting vegetative cover that can regenerate and is equal
in extent of cover to the natural vegetation of the surrounding
undisturbed area. Woody species, browse grasses, and forbs will
be selected to provide optimum forage and to enhance wildlife habitat.
Both native and introduced species will be used in revegetation.
The slopes proposed for reclaimed land are commensurate with the
proposed land use.
-10-
