' and other landowners. Signs have been posted to warn the
casual user of the hazards caused by increased mine traffic.
It may be necessary to limit/control access to reduce
confrontations between tourist traffic and the 4x4 stub
trucks. To date, the encounters with the general public have
been limited to foot traffic, ATVs, and horseback intrusions.
' In addition to the activities associated with the open pit
operation. the Applicant still plans to open and renovate the
' Upper and Lower Combination and Avery adits and associated
tunnels (see Exhibit E - Maps). Underground activities will
intensify as the amount of overburden removed becomes a larger
and larger component of the surface mining operation. As soon
' as it becomes impractical to create additional benches and
high walls, mining will move underground where additional
economic deposits are known to occur.
' Other tunnels maybe opened depending upon the sampling results
obtained in the primary underground workings. Some ore has
been wasted in the old stopes and may have some commercial
' value. Grab samples have shown potentially high grade
deposits underground. If the results of systematic sampling
of underground wastes and the residual ore body show promising
' results, then, removal of waste roc F: and additional mining of
the mineral structure will commence.
No permanent structures have been constructed at the mine
site. Anv facilities, such as a crew shed, sanitary
facilities, etc., are portable and will be removed when mining
has been completed. Sanitary facilities are being provided by
a local dispenser of chemical toilets. Other personal and
industrial trash are bagged and hauled from the site
periodicall•/.
' The only permanent employees are a representative of the
Applicant, who will supervise the general mining activities,
and his administrative assistant. He is assisted by
' supervisory personnel (seasonal employees of the Applicant) at
the mine, crushing site, and leaching facility to insure that
the best interest of the Applicant are being met. Other
' seasonal employees may 4156 be hired by the Applicant but
their numbers should not exceed five or si>:. All employees
are or have been hired from the local work force. As such
' there has been no influ>; of laborers which could impact the
local communities.
Most of the mining and hauling is being done on a contract
' basis. The contractors have been advised of the particulars
of this limited impact permit application and will be required
to comply with them. It is expected that if the contractors
need to hire additional crew members. they too would look
first to the local mining labor pool.
