.~~
May 11, 1992
Mesa County Commissioners
P. 0. Box 20000-5022
Grand Junction, CO 81502
Dear Ms. Genova:

I am writing in regard to the proposed expansion of the gravel pits owed by
Parkenaon Construction located at 31'~ and C!1 Roads and at 32 and C'~ Ronda.
I oppose the expansion for the following reasons:
1. Pazkenson Construction Company has violated the conditions of their
current agre®ent by failure to atop at the stop saga at the inter- -
aectian of C Road repeatedly. - -- - - - - ---"--- - -- -
2. Their agreement outlines that tzucks are to travel east to 32 Road.
I have vitaesaed them traveling vent to 31 Road. _= -
3, It is my understanding that their agreement calls for sprinkling
to keep the dust at a minimum at the pits. Thin has not been done.
4. Their current application for expansion viii enlarge the area mined
and will increase traffic on a road that has poor visability due to
inclines and valleys. Trucks travel at a speed that is a hazazd to
school children sad those property occupants entering the road from
residences along the vay.
5. Damage to fruit trees and crops have occurred at both sites vhich
indicates unacceptable pollution sad environmental cooditions.
6. I believe expansion of the project will have a detrimental effect
on the agriculture of the area vhich is the zoning of record. -
7. It will also have the effect of decreasing property values due to
increased pollution sad increased traffic (100+ trucks per day).
I request that you turn dow this upcoming request for expansion.
Sincerely,
,; l~.w t~ Q LL~~J?..
