Mesa County Planning Dept.
P. O. Box 20,000 5022
Grand Junction, Colo. 81502
TO: MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING DEPT.
We are not in favor of Mesa County granting a permit to Mr.
Parkinson to extend his gravel mining operation.
Why should a commercial activity be allowed to continue in an
Agriculture / Forestry and Transition Zone? Is this to increase
revenue at the expense of the taxpayers within the Area?
It doesn't seem right that we should be called upon to defend
our homes and property every year against this gravel operation.
We have previously protested the problems it has caused in our
neighborhood:
Dust Emissions aggravating and causing Health Problems
Devastation to Agriculture
Safety on our Country Roads (Not designed for heavy
truck travel)
Safety of our School Children
Noise / Constant truck travel / Torn up roads
The corner of 32 Rd. and C. Rd, is a very dangerous intersection.
The speed of the approaching traffic is 55 miles per hr. With
the heavy traffic on 32 Rd., it is difficult to enter the
Highway. Short visibility on the hill is a problem. WHAT A
HAZARD THIS WILL BE IF ADDITIONAL TRUCK TRAFFIC IS PERMITTED.
Hopefully - someone will pay attention to these problems before
more tragic events occur.
When we retired; we bought our 13 acres to enjoy the peace and
tranquility of the area. We are now sandwiched in between two
gravel pits. With the expansion of the Corn Lake area, we have
an opportunity to make this part of the wally a place of beauty
with parks and walking trails. We are in favor of that.
Respectfully submitted:
'B~~"t"'yt~~' &~wi}lis Berg
Colo. 81503
327 313/4 Rd: G/fand J
