3) A new, more diverse and faster acting seed
mixture was incorporated.
a> Pubescent Wheatgrass at 4.25 pounds/acre.
• b> Intermediate Wheatgrass at 4.5 pounds/acre.
c> Little Bluestem at 1 pound PLS/acre.
d> Sideoats Grama at I pound PLS/acre.
e> Sand Bluestem at 4 pounds PLS/acre.
f> Sand Dropseed at 0.25 pounds PLSjacre.
g> Blue Grama at 0.5 pounds PLS/acre.
h> Western Wheatgrass at 5 pounds PLS/acre.
i> Yellow Sweetclover at 2 pounds PLS/acre.
d)Alteration in the procedure of creating some
final slopes from backfilling to the production of
slopes out of native material so stability would
be increased.
e)Inclusion of a new alignment to the Fountain
Mutual Ditch immediately east of Academy Boulevard.
6. COORDINATION WITH CASTLE CONCRETE SAND PIT:
a)Relocation of the Fountain Mutual Ditch to the
north side of the Castle Concrete Sand Pit allowed
removal of the ridge of sand that originally separated
• the operations.
1) This was implemented primarily at the suggestion
of Mike Stanton from the Colorado Division of
Mined Land Reclamation.
b)A gradually sloping land surface would extend
from the back of the Castle Concrete Sand Pit to the
south side of this permit.
c)This slope would be created primarily of
back fill material derived from the deposition of wash
fines produced by the processing on the Daniels Sand Pit.
1) This backfilling would be accomplished primarily
by producing a series of sediment ponds that would
not only extend horizontally over the permit area, but
also vertically to achieve the desired depth.
d)In effect this major change eliminated the
possibility of reclaiming in Area 1 on the schedule
called for in the original permit.
•
History
Page HIS-7
