HISTORICAL TRACKING RECORD <br />• PRE-PERMIT HISTORY OF THE OPERATION <br />Pre-permit History <br />1. Source of information is "Transit Mix Pit #2 Production <br />History" written by Carl C. Herskind. <br />2. Original Purchase in 1954. <br />3. Mining started west of Academy Boulevard in 1956. <br />4. In early 1970's Academy Boulevard was extended southward <br />through the mining area. <br />5. First regulatory authority for reclamation by Colorado was <br />issued in 1973. <br />a)This is why the permit number is 73-007. <br />b) This was the seventh operation in Colorado to be permitted <br />under the 1973 mined land reclamation law. <br />6. The original permit was upgraded to a life of the mine permit <br />on June 27, 1980. <br />7. The rest of this permit tracking summary concerns events <br />after issuance of the original permit. <br />ORIGINAL 1980 PERMIT AND TECHNICAL REVISION #1 PROVISIONS SUMMARY <br />The following is a summary of the provisions included in the <br />• original permit and technical revision #1 for this site. This <br />summary provides a tracking of the changes in the permit since it <br />was issued. <br />ORIGINAL PERMIT <br />1. The total area in the permit was 159.4 acres. <br />2. The permitted land was divided into four areas. <br />3. Map HS1 shows the permit boundaries and some of the features <br />discussed below. <br />4. Area 1 (74.1 acres) was located west of Academy Boulevard. <br />a)Referred to as Mined Out. <br />b)This essentially contained the processing facilities. <br />c)A small amount of reclamation was proposed. <br />1) Involved backfilling and revegetating the North and <br />East slopes of the pit. <br />2) The North slope was against the sand ridge separating <br />this operation from Castle Concrete's Sand Pit to the <br />north. <br />3) The sand ridge existed because the Fountain Mutual <br />Ditch was constructed on the top of the ridge. <br /> <br />History <br />Page HIS-3 <br /> <br />
