Cotter Corporation - C-JD-9 Mine
Stormwater Management Plan -Permit J/ COR-040028
Revision 1 -January 28, 1994 -Page 3
Vent Holes - There is no potential for appreciable run off from these three
sites.
Access Roads -There is potential for Stormwater runoff from the access
road which leads to the mine office, ore spillage is minimal.
Barium Chloride Storage -Since the barium-chloride is stored inside the
water treatment building, a risk of stormwater impact is not indicated.
Mine Water Treatment Ponds - As the water treatment ponds are constructed
of a hypalon liner over an earthen berm with at least one foot of freeboard
above the discharge pipe, the risk associated with this facility is negligible.
Note: There is no equipment maintenance preformed outside at this site.
c. Preventive Maintenance
Inspections of the stormwater controls will be conducted on a regular basis
which is anticipated to be two times per year, or as needed in response
to major storm events. Preventative maintenance will be completed on
an as needed basis.
d
Good Housekeeping
The following are some of the good housekeeping practices that are adhered
to in order to minimize the potential for stormwater contamination.
• Garbage and waste materials are picked up and disposed of regularly.
• Spills of oil and petroleum based products are cleaned up in a timely
manner using proper clean-up procedures.
e.
Spill Prevention and Response Procedures
Due to the nature of operations at the JD-9 Facility, there is little potential
for spills to occur. However, in the event of a spill of significant quantities
of materials which could affect stormwater runoff from this site the SWMP
administrator will be notified first.
