~.

Cotter Corporation - C-JD-9 Mine
Stormwater Management Plan -Permit N COR-040028
Revision 1 -January 28, 1994 -Page 4
f. Best Management Practices
1. By June of 1994, a diversion ditch will be constructed to direct the
majority of the runoff in the drainage above the waste dump around
the western end of the waste dump.
2. Oversized rip rap material will be placed to minimize the erosion of
the drainage channel immediately downstream of the waste dump.
By June of 1994.
3. By June of 1994, a silt fence will be located downstream of the rip-rap
material where the gradient of the drainage channel decreases enough
to slow the velocity of runoff in the drainage channel and allow a silt
fence to work effectively.
4. By June of 1994, a turnout with a silt fence will be constructed along
the access road to the mine office.
5. A silt fence will be located across the drainage carrying the water
treatment pond discharge just prior to the area where this discharge
leaves our property. This will be accomplished by June,1994.
g. Employee Training
Employee training aimed at maintaining employee awareness of the Stormwater
management plan will be conducted twice per year. This training is anticipated
to occur in the summer and winter of each year.
h. Testing for Non-Stormwater Discharges
Dry weather observations have indicated there are two non-stormwater
discharges.
* The first non-stormwater discharge is the discharge from the water
treatment ponds which is regulated under an NPDES permit number
CO-0036251.
