Dolores County/M84-155 OFF Ci~
9/26/94
page 3
topsoiling will not occur until the end of the permitted
operations. You must supply adequate topsoil protection
information, since it seems that it will be stored longer than
one growing season. I would encourage you, though, to plan to
u ~ ~ reclaim this large pit incrementally as mining progresses,
since the reclamation cost and potential environmental
degradation will be reduced in that way.
I do not believe that the seed mix the SCS supplied you for
U/~~ v the original permit ten years ago is still the best for that
area. I cannot require you to change what is already approved
~ r~.~~ for the original 9.63 acres, but you should request assistance
f,,b,,,,,,d from the SCS again for the additional acreage, regarding the
~~~~ seed mix, fertilizer and mulch. I have a feeling that a pure
`"~( 1 stand of either crested or pubescent wheatgrass can be
improved upon.
~~ S t~ ~ Le ...u.~,.. ~ ~recc ...,tee-,~.~' ~ ~~• .
Exhibit F - Reclamation plan map
This should be labeled as Exhibit F. The map itself should
`r
~it show more information, such as all features at the west end of
•~,,~,
Sy4 the permit area, post-mining surface contours, drainage
~ ~
't
~
^
~' patterns, roads which will remain, all anticipated areas of
~
~
'
'
I slopes, etc.
'~' ~-2fil~y 7 ~... ~-
L
Exhibit G - Water information
There were several sheets that included the title "Exhibit G,
I, J." One, your page 478, includes surface water information
~ in its paragraph A, and may be used for part of the required
exhibit. The information on these pages should be more
clearly labeled and separated. Please include any additional
`` , information pertaining to ground water, such^depth of nearby
l~U •~ wells. Also specifically state whether stormwater discharges ` ~~~
C~ • ~~
Z U+A are anticipated.
Exhibit H - Wildlife information
The original page submitted was not clearly labeled. The
~ Division has received the updated statements from Colorado
Division of Wildlife, and there are no problems as it now
stands.
Exhibit I - Soils information
I assume that the one page of soil description (your page 482)
~ constitutes the required exhibit information. This was not
clearly labeled either, having the title "Exhibit G, I, J."
If there are more pages that I have not shuffled into this
exhibit, please advise.
