BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES Page 1-3
San Lms Project Technical Specifications
conditions shall be considered by the Contractor before resuming construction. Fill placed on
frozen or overly wet surfaces shall be considered unacceptable, as determined b:,+ the Designer,
and removed at the Contractor's expense. Equipment shall not be allowed to travel on fill or in
situ materials until the material has dried sufficiently to prevent excessive rutting and to allow
the equipment to be operated satisfactorily. If such rutting does occur, the Contractor shall re-
level, scarify, dry and replace the material to whatever depth is required, with the re-leveling and
scarifying being at the Contractor's expense.
The Contractor shall maintain al] fill placed in a condition satisfactory to the Designer.
The Contractor shall take such steps as are necessary to avoid ponding of water on the fill or
contamination of the fill by any cause, and shall at all time keep the fill surface mmd slopes free
from rubbish, rejected or unsuitable fill, or waste materials.
1.4 Schedule of Work
The Contractor shall develop a schedule of work for the Designer's approval to complete the
construction. In no instance shall approval by the Designer be considered to absolve the
Contractor from the responsibility of performing the required work or of protecting the work in
interim work stages, or from protecting the work completed prior to final acceptance by the
Designer.
In preparing the work sequence, the necessity of obtaining borrow from mandatory excavations
within the work azea and azeas subsequently requiring fill placement shall be considered. The
Contractor shall be awaze of the requirement for selective borrowing from approved borrow
sources.
The following is a suggested general work sequence for constructing the facilities shown on the
Drawings. II is intended as a guideline for the Contractor to develop his own work sequence in
conjunction with that of the Owner to suit construction equipment and manpower scheduling and
meet design requirements. Additional activities required to complete the work, as outlined
within the Specifications and as shown on the Drawings, shall be added by the Contractor.
West Pit Culvert Installation:
• Develop access roads to work azeas, as needed.
• Develop a site drainage plan and maintenance scheme including storm runoff sediment
control measures.
N:\DHALLMAMSANLUIS~SANLUIS.DOC SH.K Project No 14732
June 4,1997
