Grading of the slope between the outlet :md the stream <br />bank may be required to encourage sheet flow and prevent channeling. <br />Hay bales shall be placed in single rows, lengthwise on the contour, with ends of adjacent bales <br />tightly abutting one another. All bales shall be wire-bound or string-tied. Straw bales shall be <br />installed so that bindings are orientated around the sides rather than along the tops and bottoms <br />of the bales. The bamer shall be entrenched and backfilled. The trench shall lre excavated a <br />minimum of 4 inches along the entire length of the bamer. The bales shall be staked and <br />chinked after placement. Excavated soil shall be backfilled against the barrier and shall conform <br />to the ground level on the downstream side and shall be built up to 4 inches on the uphill side of <br />the barrier.
