BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES Page 6-3 <br />San Luis Project Ti chnical Spenficaiions <br />PARTICLE SIZE % PASSING <br />BY WEIGHT <br />2-inch 100 <br />No. 4 sieve 30 - 100 <br />No. 50 sieve 10 - 60 <br />No. 200 sieve 5 - 20 <br />6.3 Material Type 2 - Backfll <br />The Contractor shall furnish, transport, and place Type 2 material as set forth in the <br />Specifications, the Drawings or as directed by the Designer. <br />Type 2 material shall be used as compacted and general backfill for the West Pit Culvert or for <br />constructing any fill sections required for the tailings impoundment spillway chamlel. <br />Type 2 material shall consist of inorganic clay, gravely clay, sandy clay, sand, or gravel with a <br />maximum particle size of six inches. The material shall be free of any frozen 11>mps, wood or <br />other organic material. If the material contains rock fragments that, in the ~~pinion of the <br />Inspector or Designer, will be injurious to the structure, the material will not be used for <br />backfilling. The material maybe obtained from borrow pits or excavations on site or imported. <br />6.4 Material Type 3 - Riprap <br />The Contractor shall famish, transport and place Type 3 material as set forth in the <br />Specifications, the Drawings or as directed by the Designer. <br />Type 3 material shall be used in the discharge pool at the tailings impoundment spillway outlet. <br />Type 3 material shall consist of hard, durable rock fragments excavated on site or imported. <br />Type 3 riprap shall meet the following gradation requirements: <br />N:\DHALLMAN\SANLUIS\$ANLUIS.DOC 6-s SRK Prajccl No. 14732 <br />
