BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES Page 5-4 <br />San Luis Project Technical Specifications <br />5.5 $lasting <br />Although it is not anticipated to be specifically required for the work, any blasting operations <br />conducted by the Contractor, such as for the spillway excavation, must meet the approval of the <br />Owner and all applicable local, state or federal regulations. If proposed by the Contractor, <br />blasting operations must be fully described in a Blasting Plan submitted to the Owner and <br />Designer prior to the work. TI7e plan is required whether the proposed operations are conducted <br />in conjunction with the work specified or in development of an on-site riprap borrow source <br />quarry. The Contractor shad repair any on or off-site damage resulting from the Contractor's <br />blasting operations, at the Contractor's expense. <br />5.6 Grading <br />5.6.1 Tailing Impoundment <br />The tailings impoundment surface must be graded to provide drainage toward the spillway <br />(design control elevation at 8590.1) with slopes between '/: and 1 percent. TI7e final surface <br />grades, with topsoil, should be as similaz to preliminary contouring shown in the Drawings. <br />Grading should promote channel flow from the four drainage basins disch:u-ging into the <br />impoundment and from impoundment surface runoff Exact locations must be verified in the <br />field and shall control the final grading plan. Grades for each drainage ditch will be impacted by <br />settlement of the tailings surface after closure. Grading not conforming with thy; Specifications <br />must be approved by the Designer. <br />Topsoil will be placed in to a depth of 18 inches over the entire tailings surface. 'topsoil shall be <br />placed on the tailings surface, embankments, and reclaimed roadways. Subsoil treatment and <br />vegetation shall be in accordance with Section 10 of these Specifications. <br />5.6.2 Approach to Tailings Impoundment <br />The approach to the tailing impoundment shall be graded to a maximum of 1 percent. Grading <br />shall be toward the ditches extended from the impoundment as described in Section 9.1.1 of <br />these Specifications.
