Prior to development of access roads, the Contractor
shall submit a plan showing their location and size for the Construction Inspector's and
Designer's approval.
5.3 Roads
All Roads on the site not existing prior to the project shall be graded to establislo drainage and
prevent channeling. Compacted road surfaces will be loosened or ripped and, where possible,
steep cut or fill areas shall be graded to reduced slopes. Topsoil shall be place+d on flat road
surfaces and seeded in accordance with Section 10 of these Specifications. Banks and slopes of
the road will be hand seeded and mulched, if necessary. Reclaimed roads should ultimately
blend with the adjacent topography.
5.4 Borrow Areas
Borrow azeas shall be established, as necessary, for riprap, bedding materials and berm
embanlanent materials. The location, physical dimensions, and depth of stripping shall be
identified by the Contractor and approved by the Designer prior to commencement of work
requiring such borrow material. Within borrow areas, cut slopes shall be maintained at 2H:IV or
less.
Since borrow sources may consist of waste materials from previous mining activities a[ the site,
mining related debris, rubble or other materials may be encountered. If considered by the
Designer to be unsuitable for inclusion in the work, these materials must be renooved from the
borrow and must be properly disposed in an approved manner. The Designer should be notified
immediately upon discovery of foreign substances encountered within borrow areas.
All borrow areas are subject to approval by the Owner. Borrow areas must be reclaimed to a
condition equivalent to the area prior to material excavation.
N:\DHALLMAMSANLUIS\SANLUIS.DOC 5'7 SRK Project No. 14732
