BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES <br />San Luis Project <br />4.0 SITE PREPARATION <br />Page 4-I <br />Tt chnical Speci ficalions <br />Site preparation activities shall consist of clearing, grubbing, and stripping for the culvert trench, <br />tailings impoundment spillway, and surface water diversions as shown on Cne Drawings. <br />Clearing involves removal of surface vegetation by a method that mulches the vegetation for <br />inclusion in the topsoil stockpile. Grubbing involves removal of brush roots in eecess of 2 inch <br />in diameter in the subsoils. Stripping involves removal of organic soils, or otherwise unsuitable <br />foundation materials, as determined by the Designer. M organized topsoil stripping pattern with <br />grade stakes shall be implemented by the Contractor as approved by the Designer to ensure that <br />topsoil is removed without over excavation. <br />Clearing, grubbing, and stripping limits shall extend 5 ft beyond diversion sfiactures, access <br />roads, trenches and other facilities. Clearing and grubbing shall include areas to be covered in <br />riprap. <br />The vegetative and topsoil materials removed during clearing, grubbing and stripping shall be <br />removed and stored in topsoil stockpile azeas. Topsoil stockpiles within or adjacent to areas of <br />disturbance, or in other areas meeting the approval of the Designer, Constructior. Inspector and <br />Owner. Topsoil stockpiles shall not be placed in areas of concentrated stonn run-off, nor <br />blocking access roads, trails or other of the Owner's facilities nor interfere with the Owner's <br />operations or work of other Contractors.
