BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES Page 3-I <br />San Luis Projecl T~achnical Soecificatinns <br />3.0 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS <br />3.1 General <br />The Contractor shall store materials, confine his equipment and maintain construction operations <br />within the limits of applicable laws, ordinances, permits, or as outlined by the Designer. Care <br />shall be exercised to avoid blocking roads or in any other way interfering with the Owner's <br />operations, or presenting a hazard to Owner's personnel and equipment, or to the public. <br />The Contractor shall at all times keep the work site neat, tidy and free of waste materials or <br />rubbish resulting from his work. Fuel, lubricating oils and chemicals shall be stored and <br />dispensed in such a manner as to prevent or contain spills and prevent said liquid: from reaching <br />local streams or groundwater. <br />3.2 Diversion and Care of Water <br />The site is in a moderate climate azea and anticipated to be dry at the time of construction; <br />however, thunderstorms and runoff may occur during the construction period. Depending upon <br />the duration and severity of the thunderstorms, flash floods are possible. ]t shall be the <br />Contractor's responsibility to protect his equipment and materials, as well as completed work or <br />portions of the work in progress from damage in the event of local thunderstorms or floods. The <br />Contractor shall provide dewatering, as needed, at his own expense to maintair drained work <br />areas. <br />The Contractor shall sequence his construction activities to minimize flood damage to the <br />earthworks covered under these Specifications. In the event neglect or poet construction <br />planning results in flood damage to the facilities constructed or being constructed, the facilities <br />shall be repaired or replaced to the satisfaction of the Designer, at the Contractor's expense. <br />Plans for remedial work shall be submitted by the Contractor for review and approval by the <br />Designer prior to commencement of such work. <br />3.3 Dust Abatement <br />During the performance of the work defined by the Specifications or any operations appurtenant <br />thereto, whether on aright-of--way provided by the Owner or elsewhere, the Contractor shall <br />furnish all labor, equipment, materials and means required to perform propel and efficient <br />measures to prevent fugitive dust excursion.
