PAGE 2
JUNE 27, 1994
BARBARA PAVLIK
Comment 23: The obsolete sentence has been removed from Page IV-22.
Comment 26: Table V-7 (Page V-34) has been revised to include the titles that have been
left off the columns.
Comment 34: Table V-2 (Page V-6 and V-7) includes Deserado Mine sediment ponds. It
also refers to the pertinent certified drawings. Page V-7 has been revised.
Comment 44: This comment has been taken care of by the response to Comment 34.
Comment 45: The containment sumps at the east Portal Area will be dewatered via pumping
after storm events.
Comment 46: The sediment demonstration for the East Portal Area shows that little or no
sediment will collect in the sumps, therefore the design, in this respect, should be
adequate.
Comment 47: The sumps, because they were incised were not originally designed with
freeboard. The design of the sumps has been changed to allow for freeboard when at
design capacity. This design change has been reflected on the East Portal area map
included with the SEDCAD run.
Comment 48: The run-off and sediment from the Explosives Storage Area will be handled
with a porous rock outlet structure.
Comment 49: The upland diversion ditch for the Explosives Storage Area lies between the
vertical rock face and the edge of the pad. The ditch has been identified on the drawing
includes with the SA.E. demonstration.
Comment 50: The flow off of the Halandras Trash Dump Area will be handled through a
porous rock outlet structure.
Comment 51: The flow off of the Topsoil Pile near RP-1 will be handled through a porous
rock outlet structure.
