1
i 6) Only soil of suitable quality for vegetative growth will be stockpiled and used in
' reclamation and will include the top existing surface horizon(s).
7) Topsoil will be replaced as evenly as practical. Fertilizer will be applied, to the topsoil
after placement, at the following rate:
'' 40 Ib/acre nitrate-nitrogen
40 lb/acre phosphoric acid
Reve etation:
1) Revegetation will include establishment of aself-sustaining vegetative cover at least equal
in extent of cover to the natural vegetation of the surrounding area. The seed mixture
is based on USDA-SCS guidelines.
'
2) The final reclamation is not for forest planting.
' 3) Final slopes will not be too steep to be traversed by livestock.
' 4) Environmental factors such as seasonal patterns of precipitation, temperature, and wind;
soil texture and fertility; slope stability; and direction of the slope face are considered in
selection of vegetation species and in regrading configuration design. Grazing will be
precluded, until the grasses are successfully established, by installation of fence around
the perimeter of revegetated areas.
' S) To ensure adequate establishment of a diverse and long-lasting vegetative cover, site
preparation will include discing; application of soil amendments and fertilizers as needed;
drilling, broadcasting, or hydroseeding on slopes flatter than 33 percent (3:1); and
mulching (straw or hay mulch at I.5 tons/acre).
' 6) Weed control methods will be employed if invasion of a reclaimed area by weed species
seriously threatens the continued development of desired vegetation in the reclaimed area
or nearby (adjacent) areas.
' 7) A limited number of access roads will be retained to provide access for seeding and
reclamation inspection.
8) Normal stabilization of disturbed surfaces will be performed in all disturbed areas. No
seeding will occur in areas where the chemical or physical characteristics of the surface
and underlying material of the affected land is deficient in plant nutrients, or composed
' of sand, gravel, shale, or stone to such an extent as to seriously inhibit plant growth and
such condition cannot Feasibly be remedied by chemical treatment, fertilization,
replacement of overburden, or similar measures.
' tlluN,.m
I nJN'
12
